Plasma Display Panels (PDP) are a fast growing and very popular
new generation of large displays.
PDP are based on multiple micro-discharges working on the
same basic principles as fluorescent tubes. A PDP module consists
of a cell structure where a gas is confined. Each cell has
electrodes that enable gas ionization under an electric field.
The UV rays that are created from this plasma gas excite a
phosphor layer that convert them into red, green or blue color.
PDP is the only technology able to provide direct view displays
with diagonals in the range 37" to 84". Contrary
to projectors, they can be viewed under room-light or sun-light
conditions. Main applications are TV and public information displays.
SAINT-GOBAIN DISPLAY GLASS SOLUTION
High strain point glass CS77
features high stability during the numerous high temperature
thermal treatments during PDP module processing.
We also supply soda-lime glass substrates for PDP optical filters
that are necessary to shield EMI and IR emissions from the
panel.
